Abstract

The drill chuck body (1) has jaws (3) to grip a drill bit. The jaws (3) move in a cavity (4) in the chuck body inclined to the chuck axis (5). An adjusting ring (7) controls the jaws through an adjustment thread (9). The adjusting ring is supported axially against the chuck body by a ball bearing (10), with balls (11), and by a clamp ring (12). The clamp ring has a conical bearing surface to the balls and is rotatable concentric to the chuck axis. The balls run in a tapered cavity. When the clamp ring is tightened, the balls (11) and the adjusting ring (7) and the jaws (3) are pushed axially forwards.
